Indigo is a friendly base where parents and their children on the autistic spectrum and siblings can get together with others in a similar situation. Many of our parents are as passionate as the next in promoting autism awareness and fighting for the rights of our precious children. By coming along to our groups, you will always find a friend who shares the same experiences as you and your child. Someone who fully understands exactly what you are going through and hopefully, someone who can offer you strategies for issues that you and /or your child may be experiencing at the time.
You do not need to join to become a member, and your child does not have to have a diagnosis; anyone is welcome, including SENCO's and school teachers - in fact anyone who has an interest in autism and wants to make a difference.
We work in conjunction with other agencies such as Parent Partnership, Inclusion Support, Notts County Council, Ashfield Family Information Services, Family Action, The Autism Team, local schools APTCOO and NORSACA plus many other worthwhile groups and organisations.
Seminars and talks are held providing a wide range of information and we offer after school activities for our children. At meetings we sit and have tea/coffee and a chat, at larger events we can provide a creche, our meeting room has toys/tables/chairs/books to entertain even the smallest child during our sessions so please feel free to bring them along.
If you feel that you can help us in any way, we would love to hear from you but ultimately we are there for you....Our centre is based at Old Beardall Street School, Hucknall and includes two large children's activity rooms with WiiU and computers, tuck shop, male and female toilets, toddler room, sensory room (coming soon) and soft outdoor area with play equipment.
For parents there is sign posting advice available five days a week (provided by a parent volunteer), a comfy lounge area with sofas and information, a kitchen and a separate toilet.
We also have a consultation room for smaller meetings and a comfortable private lounge for more relaxed meetings. Please contact us if you wish to use any of these facilities via our usual contact points.
